ColibriTD launches QUICK-PDE, a multiphysics solver in the IBM Qiskit Functions Catalog

As a part of ColibriTD’s QUICK (Quantum Innovative Computing Kit) platform, H-DES (a Quantum-Classical Hybrid Differential Equation Solver) is now available as an IBM Qiskit Function named QUICK-PDE, and enables developers, simulation engineers, and researchers to tackle multiphysics partial differential equations (PDEs) using IBM’s quantum computers, over the cloud, and paves the way for real-world applications and industrial simulation.
PARIS, FRANCE – June 5, 2025 – ColibriTD, a leader in quantum-powered multiphysics simulation, announced the release of its quantum PDE solver, QUICK-PDE, now available in the IBM Qiskit Functions Catalog. QUICK-PDE allows users to solve domain-specific partial differential equations by leveraging IBM’s utility-scale quantum computers through a streamlined, developer-friendly interface.
Built upon ColibriTD’s proprietary H-DES algorithm, QUICK-PDE represents another significant example of quantum utility in scientific computing.
Key multiphysics capabilities
- The inviscid Burgers’ equation - A fundamental model in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), relevant for simulating shockwave propagation in fluids and essential to aerospace and automotive applications.
- Mechanical deformation under a hypoelastic regime in 1D - A scenario often encountered in tensile testing in solid mechanics, modeling how materials respond to stress, crucial for manufacturing and materials science.
These cases highlight the algorithm’s ability to address multiphysics problems using a Variational Quantum Algorithm executed on IBM’s utility-scale quantum computers.
Dr. Laurent Guiraud, Co-Founder and CTO of ColibriTD, commented: “The launch of QUICK-PDE on the IBM Qiskit Functions Catalog is an important moment to showcase the growing capabilities of quantum algorithms applied to industrial simulation challenges. We're placing the power of quantum multiphysics simulations directly into the hands of engineers and researchers, allowing them to tackle real-world challenges with our QUICK-PDE application, running on IBM’s most advanced quantum computers. This isn't just about theoretical advancements; it's about delivering tangible solutions that will revolutionize industries from aerospace to materials science.”
The availability of the H-DES algorithm, through the new QUICK-PDE IBM Qiskit Function, delivers a tool for industrial and research communities seeking to enhance modelling accuracy and reduce simulation time. Users on the IBM Quantum Premium Plan can now request access from ColibriTD for use of the QUICK-PDE Qiskit Function.
As the field of quantum computing progresses, QUICK-PDE offers a practical starting point for exploring hybrid algorithms in applications such as fluid dynamics, mechanical deformations, heat transfer, and electromagnetic simulations. Future H-DES releases will be part of QUICK-PDE to expand the function’s capabilities to include higher-dimensional problems and additional physics domains.
